Written in 2015, this four-movement sonata by Algerian-born composer Marc Eychenne has already gained tremendous popularity. It pays homage to French clarinet compositions of the 20th century (think Poulenc, Francaix, Chausson, Tomasi) while exploiting the full range and unique character of the bass clarinet. An instrument that plays down to low C is required.
