Bill Waterman

Bill Waterman is an active performer, educator, and conductor. He served as principal tubist for the Topeka Symphony (Topeka, KS) for nine seasons. His career as a soloist is highlighted by a 2011 performance in Carnegie Hall. As an educator, Mr. Waterman serves as faculty for the University of Michigan at Flint, the Flint Institute of Music, and Jackson College in Jackson, MI. Additionally, he has taught classes at both Michigan State and Texas Tech Universities.

Mr. Waterman is conductor and musical director of the Capital City Brass Band (Lansing, MI), an award-winning English-style brass band entering its thirteenth season. During the summers, Mr. Waterman serves on the faculty for Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and can be heard performing on Blue Lake Public Radio, with groups such as the Blue Lake Monster Big Band.

He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Kansas and Master of Music degree from Texas Tech University. In May of 2014, Mr. Waterman will receive his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from Michigan State University.
