Description

The Twenty-Four Studies in African Rhythms comes in two volumes. Each volume contains 12 pieces, each individually named by the dance or patterns they subtly surrogate. Artistically, each Study is crafted to sharpen some of the rhythmic challenges encountered by the non-indigene African performers I've worked with around the world. Together, these 12 pieces fulfill my commitment to complete the first volume of the Twenty-Four Studies in African Rhythms.

As in all things African, or African-derived, I should be remiss to not add that these 24 studies would cover all the rhythm and dance traditions of a complex continent like Africa. But, they are more than a taste. Each piece (again, when properly studied) offers its own little window into the vast world of African and Diaspora-African rhythmic idioms and aesthetics. I invite and look forward to reading your comments.
