"Mi Y’maleil" is a set of variations by Stephen Richards, based on a Chanukah song. Cantor Stephen Richards, composer and conductor, explains he has loved this Chanukah song, “Mi Y’maleil,” since he learned it as a child with the English words, “Who Can Retell.” Over the years he made many arrangements of it, the most recent performed by the Springfield Masssachussets symphony and chorus. It was this arrangement that his son, Paul Richards, adapted the music for clarinet choir. It was recorded by Mitchell Estrin and the University of Florida Clarinet Choir with Mark Records, 52394-MCD. The audio sample used on this web page was taken from the recording with the permission of Mark Records. The piece is very colorful and will be a great addition to your program.
