Description

Following a mysterious offstage cadenza, the soloist walks onstage for an expansive Lacrimoso movement. After a perky, energetic second movement, the 18-minute work concludes with another slow movement, bearing an optimistic spirit. Ewazen has noted this is a sonata for our time and a prayer for a life once again at peace.
