40 French Songs, Volume 1 - Low Voice and Piano

The title 40 French Songs for [Low] Voice and Piano is split into two volumes of 20 songs each. This is Volume 1. Volume 2 for low voice is available separately (1126.)

Each song has a line-by-line prose English translation in a separate section at the front of the book.

The song selection covers a wide range of composers setting French poetry in a French style, some of whom were not themselves French, and omits those composers (Debussy, Chausson, Faure, Duparc, and Ravel) whose work is easily available elsewhere.

Also available from International Music Company are 40 French Songs for high and medium voices, each in two volumes. The song selection varies slightly between voice types, though most titles are duplicated. (Look for item numbers 1123, 1124, 1125, and 1126.)
