Written for Frederick Hemke, Saxophonist For information regarding recent performance practice on the saxophone, the composer is indebted not only to Mr. Hemke, but also to Mr. Larry Livingston and Mr. Thom Mason. Their valuable research, published and otherwise, has been helpful. This, together with their personal interest in the proposed work, has been fundamental to the writing of the piece. The first performance of The Dream Net took place on May 23, 1975 at Lutken Hall, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. Performing were Frederick Hemke, saxophone, and the Eckstein Quartet with Samuel Magad, violin; Edgar Muenzer, violin; Robert Swan, viola; Dudley Powers, violoncello. Instrumentation: Includes score and parts
- I. Slowly, sinewy
- II. Quick - rompish
