Easy Classical Studies - Saxophone

Since its invention in the mid-19^th century, the saxophone has proved itself to be an enlightening addition to the composer's pallete of colours. Trruly a chameleon, its flexibility, enormous dynamic range and freedom of expression have guaranteed its success in classical, jazz, rock and contemporary music. In this light, how foolish we would be to ignore music from periods before its appearance, when composers would certainly have written for the instrument had they been offered the opportunity.

This book of easy classical studies, which is drawn largely from the wide variety of studies available for other woodwind instruments, can be worked through by players of all standards, obviously serving different purposes depending on different levels of attainment. The studies are roughly graded, (easy to intermediate), so they may be used in conjunction with lessons, or prepared for examination. They may also be used by advanced players as a "warm-up" or as sight reading material. The duets at the end of the book usually have an easy 2^nd part. These may be played by a teacher and pupil and can provide an interesting and instructive conclusion to any lesson.
