Description

Hands-On 6 is a result of over 30 years of my experience in learning how to play the guitar. Reading music is a universal language. Over time, reading music has taken the back seat in guitar education. Almost every instrument in western music uses reading music notation as the foundation, but somehow the guitar has slipped through the cracks. Guitar tablature has become the go to source for learning how to play. However, this is only understood by people who play guitar, leaving guitar players with very limited knowledge and excluding them from the “universal language of music.”

Hands-On 6 addresses this issue directly by learning to read music on the guitar. In hopes to bring the guitar into the universal world of music, Hands-On 6 gives the student a comprehensive guideline to reading in the first position. Most books and websites that teach how to read music on the guitar include popular songs that are familiar to most ears. Our approach is unique because the songs were written exclusively for this book. The true definition for sight reading is reading for the first time as opposed to playing by ear.

As well as learning to sight read, Hands-On 6 will cover the composing aspect of music. As the student learns music theory and techniques of reading, they will be taught to use these techniques to compose their own music. While Hands-On 6 addresses the theory of music, it also gives the student a creative outlet to come up with their own ideas, setting it apart from other guitar method books.

Have fun learning guitar by getting back into the basics and entering into the “universal language of music” with Hands-On 6.
