Powerfully expansive and meticulously detailed, Vittorio Giannini’s VARIATIONS ON A CANTUS FIRMUS is a major work of American piano literature whose architecture furthers the monumental ground bass forms of Bach and Brahms, with harmony and textures akin to Scriabin and Rachmaninoff.
