In Ireland, a Séanachie [SHAH NA CHEE] is a traditional storyteller. They memorize hundreds of tales from Gaelic folklore and mythology. This jig is written to honor these talented people. This song is a rondo, a special style of song written in ABACA form. The lively A section starts and ends the piece, with the B and C sections alternating between them. In traditional dance, the dance steps would always be the same for each of the A sections and they would change for the new melodies presented in the B and C sections. The strong left-hand accompaniment represents the traditional bodhrán drum that would accompany the dancers.
