Description
Torque is an exciting and aggressive work for trombone ensemble that features spiky harmonies and numerous meter changes. This fast-paced motoric work is persistent throughout and only slows down one time for a chorale section that imitates cinematic harmonic progressions. Short motives are developed in episodic sections that are interrupted by the opening theme producing a rondo-like form. The work is an abstract musical depiction of the force needed to loosen an overly tightened bolt or fastener.
