Description

The Aulos A204AF Adaptive Soprano recorder is intended for use by players who have hand and finger disabilities, including missing fingers, missing joints, stiff fingers, etc. Now more people can join in playing recorder!

This soprano recorder consists of a head joint, bell, and 6 body segments. It comes with 2 removable rubber hole plugs, and includes a clip-on thumb rest, a cleaning rod, joint grease, fingering chart and assembly instructions, and glue to secure the recorder once it is arranged correctly.

The fingering is basically German, and all holes are single. The special feature of this recorder is that, by rotating the body joints and blocking (or unblocking) some holes, it can be assembled to suit people with different combinations of eight, seven, or six usable digits.

There are 12 possible layouts for the body segments: 6 for 6 fingers, 4 for 7 fingers, and 2 for 8 fingers. Instructions and fingerings for each assembly are included.

The fully chromatic ranges are: C-A for 6 fingers (an octave and a sixth); C-C for 7 fingers (2 octaves); and C-D for 8 fingers (2 octaves and 1 step.)

Careful assembly will be required. A teacher or experienced adult should work with the player to determine the best position of the body joints, and then glue the recorder into position.
