A short work for unaccompanied B-flat clarinet by Krzysztof Penderecki, composed in 1987 and dedicated to Paul Patterson. Begins slowly (Lento sostenuto) and quietly, builds to an agitated climax up to double high C, quickly recedes, and ends on the same pitch and at the same piano dynamic as the beginning.
