Baermann's method is still a standard in clarinet education today. Volumes 1 and 2 of this Schott edition include basic scales, technical fingering exercises, etudes, and performance pieces that equate with the 1st and 2nd Divisions of the Carl Fischer/Gustave Langenus edition. The original material is here expanded with correlated literature suggestions, breathing exercises, explanations of musical terminology, staccato exercises, practising tips, fingering charts for Boehm and German system clarinets, and more, by editor Robert Erdt. Erndt spent seven years researching Baermann's life and works, and his thorough knowledge and expertise are reflected in this Schott edition. Volume 1 contains exercises 1-33, and Volume 2 contains exercises 34-62. Text in German, English and French. Note: For the set of scales and arpaggios commonly known among American clarinetists as "Baermann Scales," see the Daily Excercises (ED21765).
