Rhapsody - Alto Sax and Piano

The piano reduction in this edition is based on Henle's publication of the orchestral score (HN 9989), which gives access to Debussy's "short score" in printed form for the first time. The composer afforded the saxophone few solo entries. Today, especially when performing with piano accompaniment, it is usual to give the saxophone further melodic sections taken from the orchestra. For this reason, two solo parts are included here: the original, and an adaptation that adopts material from the orchestra for added interest and difficulty. The adaptation was prepared by Daniel Gauthier, professor of classical saxophone at the Music Conservatory in Cologne.
