The Czech composer František Xaver Dušek (1731-1799) is one of the most important personalities of Prague's music life in the second half of the 18th century. He was an outstanding pianist, composer and piano teacher, to whose pupils Leopold Koželuch belonged, for example. All twenty-two piano works of Dušek, of which up to now many were only accessible in old prints or manuscripts, now appear in two volumes. The publisher Vojtech Spurný carefully collected and compared the sources scattered in archives across Europe. The sonatas, arranged chronologically according to their appearance, appear for the first time in critical editions. They are technically easy to play, some have probably arisen for educational purposes. First critical overall edition of the sonatas Repertoire that has been difficult to reach Preface (cz./engl./ger.) and Critical Report (engl.)
