French baroque composer and violinist Jean-Marie Leclair (1697-1764) is considered to have founded the French Violin school. His expertise led him to compose significant works for the instrument. His sublime Sonata in C is superbly arranged for Alto Saxophone by contemporary French saxophonist Jean-Marie Londeix.
