Written by romantic-era Czech bassoonist Ludwig Milde, these 50 Concert Studies constitute some of the most played works in the entire bassoon repertoire. They are, with the Weissenborn etudes, the backbone of the bassoon etude world. This edition, published by International Music Company, features many dynamics and expressive markings added by Simon Kovar, and includes the second half of the 50 studies, from number 26 to 50. Even more than the first volume, these etudes experiment with a wide range of forms, tonalities, and styles. Some of them exist separately as concert pieces with piano accompaniment, such as the 34th "Polonaise" etude, while others embrace unconventional forms like the numerous "Scherzo" etudes, the 38th "Capriccio" etude, and the 41st etude, in the style of a march with a trio.
