Description
For flute and piano. The sonatas included in this volume have been given the misnomer "Halle Sonatas," as they were believed to have been composed during Handel's youth in the city of Halle. Modern scholarship has refuted this, and in fact there is little evidence that the first and third sonatas in this volume were authored by Handel at all. They have been attributed to Handel since their initial publication in 1730 by London publishers John Walsh and Joseph Hare.
