Mozart wrote his Oboe Quartet in 1781 for Friedrich Ramm, principal oboist of the Mannheim Orchestra, who had played the Oboe Concerto (K. 314) a few years previously. In this set of parts, the oboe part holds a preface and editorial comments. Editing is according to the Urtext principle. Parts have measure numbers but no rehearsal letters. Henle publishes a study score separately (HN9794).
