Variations on a Theme from Samori, Op. 6, WeV P.3 for Piano, Violin and Cello ad lib. Edited from the text of the Carl Maria von Weber Complete Edition by Andreas Fukerider. Practical guidance on performance by Volker Worlitzsch. The theme that served Weber as the basis for the present variations (composition year: 1804), comes from the opera Samori of Abbe Vogler, where he was a student in Vienna from 1803 to 1804. The Variations, Op. 6 evidently arose at the suggestion of Vogler. Originally Weber planned variations on five other themes from the opera, which Vogler eventually wrote himself. This practical edition follows the text of the complete Weber edition.
