Elementary Snare Drum Studies - Snare Drum Method

Elementary Snare Drum Studies is intended to be used with an instructor and in not meant to serve as a self instructor. Technical approaches vary considerably from teacher to teacher. For this reason, verbal explanations have been kept to a minimum.

Sufficient material is presented so that this book can be used either as a beginner's method, if used with the aid of a private teacher, or as a supplementary text to another drum method.

An attempt has been made to present the studies in a logical and progressive order; however, since every student advances at a different pace there may be need to vary the order of the studies from student to student.

The studies are purposely written without much reference to dynamics and tempo indications. In the beginning stages this allows the student to focus on technical and rhythmic fundamentals. The use of various tempos and dynamics in practicing the studies is encouraged.
