This slow ballad depicts the final days of Lonesome George, who died in 2012 as the last of the giant Galapagos tortoises of Pinta Island. An opening euphonium solo is the prelude for an extremely expressive melody, which builds to an emotional finish. Players will be challenged both emotionally and musically with this simple but descriptive lyrical piece. Includes score and parts. Instrumentation: piccolo trumpet (opt.), 3 trumpets, flugel horn, 2 horns, 2 trombones, euphonium, tuba, and percussion: timpani, bells, cabasa/bass drum, and triangle/tambourine/suspended cymbal.
